Hyderabad: In a fiery accusation, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KTR has pointed fingers at the Congress government, alleging a massive ₹20000 crore plunder from the people of Telangana through the Land Regularization Scheme (LRS). The accusation came to light during a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, where KTR fervently demanded the immediate regularization of plots under LRS without imposing any fees on the applicants.
The spotlight was on the Congress party's past commitment, as KTR reminded of their assurance of a fee-free LRS process and promised land regularization at no cost. Expressing bewilderment, KTR questioned the conspicuous silence of current Congress ministers who had vehemently opposed LRS previously. Notably, he emphasized the accountability of Congress leaders such as Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, Seethakka, Komatireddy, and Uttamkumar Reddy, urging them to explain their silence after coming to power.
Drawing attention to the plight of the 25.44 lakh LRS applicants, KTR highlighted the potential burden of at least Rs1 lakh each, should the Congress government continue on its apparent backtrack from its earlier promise. In response, the BRS party has announced statewide protest programs scheduled for March 6. These protests aim to pressure the Congress government into fulfilling its commitment to regularize plots through LRS without imposing any charges.
During the press conference, KTR expressed his disappointment with the Congress leaders' inconsistent stance on LRS, showcasing videos of their past criticisms as evidence of using LRS as a means of financial exploitation. He further accused the state government of pressuring LRS applicants to pay fees before March 31, likening the situation to "drinking blood of people."
Specifically calling out Congress figures like Bhatti Vikramraka and Uttamkumar Reddy, who had previously stated 'no LRS - no BRS,' KTR demanded an explanation for what he sees as an apparent contradiction.
In a bold move, KTR announced a series of protest actions across the state on March 6. These actions will include dharnas in every constituency and special protests in Hyderabad, particularly targeting the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) offices. He concluded with a warning to the state government, demanding an immediate announcement that no charges would be collected under the LRS program, as originally promised by Congress.
